Holding on! we were crossing a river canyon on cable car. I also thought it was a very good illustration of what my life is like right now. :o) |
Greetings from Ecuador
I’ve been pretty silent on my blog lately. Well, there is a reason for that. I had to get all my ducks in a row as they say before I could publicly announce what is going on. After 9 years of Mission Corps service it is time to return home. This was not an easy decision to make and as I am back here in Quito with all the people I work with it is even harder! I do know however that God is moving and I must follow Him! God is giving me the opportunity to return to my home church and minister there!
Someone asked me the other day, “So, this is the end of your volunteer career, the end of your missionary career?” I answered with a definite “NO!” not in any way. I will be going home to ‘volunteer’ at my church. And by no means is the door to future missionary service closed.
On my return trip from my first Work and Witness trip God called me to full time ministry with the following verses:
12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! -1 Corithinians 9:12-15
God continues to call me to obedience and this is just the next step in that obedience.
This is where my life gets interesting. I have purchased tickets for March 16th. Now the packing up 9 years of memories and life into as many suitcases as the airline will let me take! God is so good!!! I already have people willing to take bags back for me! The work and witness team from Nyssa, Or/Caldwell, Id took 5 ½ suitcases back for me. They all safely arrived at Craig and Gail’s house and will actually make it to Oregon before me! I never in a million years would have guessed that it would have worked out that way! He continues to surprise me with good medical news, a no cavity report from the dentist, and much more.
God Bless you!
Kim Haddon
